A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

Catch the wind in your sails with this physics-based sailing simulation. Trim every rope to maneuver the boat in the direction you desire.

This is a hobby project that we have been working on for a couple of years, with the primary goal of experimenting with more realistic sailing mechanics.

The controls of the boat turned out to be very challenging to learn, but I hope that some will find it a fun experience.

Once you learn to sail freely, you can gather resources floating in the water to buy a bigger ship with more sails and slots for cannons. Then, you can find some pirates to fight with :D

Hints:
  • Mind the red flag(s) on the boat indicating wind direction.
  • Listing your boat will fill it with water, which will make it sink.
  • Letting the red hunger bar go to zero will cause you to die.
  • Food can be found in barrels on the first island.
  • Wood/Fabric can be found in floating cargo.
  • Steel can be looted from chests on some islands.
  • To interact with anything on the island, you need to moor your boat to it.
Controls:
  • F1 - help
  • RMB pan camera
  • SCROLL zoom
  • CTRL - show interactive objects
  • LMB - select control point
  • W/S - interact with selected control point (eg. heave/ease rope)
  • A/D - move the rudder
  • Q/E - prev/next control point
  • Z - special action
  • 1...9 - hold to asign control point shortcut, press to use shortcut
  • SPACE - shoot cannons
  • F9 - cheat console
  • F10  - cheat camera

I've always wanted a pirate simulator with realistic sailing! The game looks stylish and smooth, and the boat really feels like a boat. Conversely, the controls are not very intuitive right now, and the tutorial doesn't help much. I spent several minutes bobbing around in irons like a six-year-old in an Opti, unable to figure out how to trim the main sheet and catch a breeze. In nay case, I look forward to seeing how this develops. It's got great potential.
